President Elect states pardon based on ‘sincerely held religious beliefs’
NEW YORK—President elect Donald Trump has promised a pardon to Charleston church shooter, Dylann Roof.
A self-declared White Supremacist, Roof was found guilty of shootings in a South Carolina church that killed nine black members of a Bible study last year. This verdict could lead to a death sentence.
Holding court in his penthouse home, Trump stated that although Roof’s behavior was “very bad,” it was nonetheless a result of Roof’s “sincerely held religious beliefs” and should be excused.
“We’re gonna make America great again, and that starts with freedom of religion for white people,” Trump declared before his keepers closed down the meeting.
